South Dakota State University competes in Division I athletics in each of its 21 varsity sports. Crowds in excess of 15,000 cheer on the Jackrabbit football team at Coughlin Alumni Stadium.

Many of the SDSU sports teams call the 7,000-seat Frost Arena home, including men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, volleyball, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.

Frost Arena and Coughlin Alumni Stadium boast two of the nation’s finest collegiate video displays, with state-of-the-art Daktronics scoreboards and video boards being recently added to the facilities.

The Swiftel Center in Brookings plays host to several spectator sports each year. Basketball tournaments are often held in the facility, as are rodeos, motocross events, horse shows, volleyball tournaments, and much more.

Several communities in the Brookings area have claimed state championships in recent years, and there is no better way to experience the camaraderie and neighborliness of small town South Dakota than to be a part of a town cheering on its local high school team.
