All the Brookings area communities boast wonderful public parks that provide a great place to have a picnic, play disc golf, or let the kids play.
Brookings’ Pioneer Park hosts the Brookings Summer Arts Festival as well as summer community band concerts. Nearby Sexauer Park provides camping, picnic areas, and a playground.
Hillcrest Park’s most famous attraction is the new Hillcrest Aquatic Center, which contains a zero depth pool with play features, a sand play area, waterslides, a children’s playground, shaded deck space, a concession stand, and much more.
Brookings’ park system also includes softball diamonds, soccer fields, a skateboard park, go-kart tracks, an archery range, basketball courts, and the list goes on and on.
Lake Poinsett State Recreation area and Oakwood Lakes State Park both offer camping, hiking trails, and public lake access. Experience the serenity and beauty of nature at these nearby attractions.
